I had a very particular idea about the role engineering education would play in my practice. I knew everything I would ever need would be found in the pages of an engineering text book.

Shock on me when I came out here and encountered a spring that needed protection through an engineering design, leaving me flabbergasted because I had never gone through such a design topic while in school. I have faced several of such cases that are not by the book, from which a came to a realization that the engineering we learn in campus is just a foundation for the future challenges we would face that would need solutions.
The training we went through was to provide us with the basics we needed to have on our finger tips in order to face the world with confidence and extend it exceptionally.
Now I know and for that I am truly grateful for the academic knowledge that was imparted in me. Now I know what engineering truly means. A changing dynamic of learning, unlearning, adapting and growing. And finally, now I know that I can be an engineer wherever I am irrespective of the field I am in.
It's just simply about finding solutions to problems with the engineering skills you have. Sometimes not 'just simply';
