I was having a conversation with an acquaintance of mine and I mentioned my ultimate professional goal is to be registered as a professional engineer. He then asked me 'and then?' and I was left wondering what I planned to do after the registration.
Sometimes we aim for a certain goal, not out of our own volition but because of a path we see as ideal and definite since others before us had decided so.
I used to squint my eyes at engineers who had stagnated at the graduate level but now I get it. Maybe they had other plans. Maybe the road they are on or the destination they had in mind did not need them to be a professional engineer. Rest assured, they'll be no more judgement from me.

Its funny how societal pressure has so much influence that you don't even realize your thoughts have been aligned to follow a certain narrative. It's high time we took a breather and evaluated whether the hustle and bustle we put ourselves through is leading us to where we really want to be.
