Being an engineer is quite the achievement, but becoming a lady engineer deserves the highest of accolades, maybe even a knighthood by the queen herself (just maybe).
The journey a woman undertakes for the P.E (Professional Engineer) title is a journey I highly doubt men can attest to. From the decision to study engineering where people question whether you are cut out for it when quite frankly we have the same qualifications as our male counterparts and take the same classes, to the challenges we face entering the job market where your skills and abilities are downplayed, sometimes even having to show our dedication to a particular cause through certain 'favors'.

Through it all, women engineers emerge victorious and become a force to reckon with. So before you second guess a lady engineer, keep in mind they draft policies and come up with designs that inculcate the needs of the society in a way solely attributed to being woman due to that ‘je ne sais quoi’ which strives to nurture nature. Isn’t engineering all about harnessing the resources of nature sustainably for mankind's benefit? And who better to effect this than the beings naturally designed for this purpose?

I hope that the journey ahead of us women engineers out here will be a tale of hope and inspiration to the upcoming young female engineers, that stories of us having to tarmac for years just to get a decent living despite having an engineering degree will become fables and that finally, the world will see us for who we really are because when given wings, women engineers fly.
